“You can’t be what you can’t see” - Sally Ride
The FUTURE Career Exploration Program is excited to announce the launch of its Career Mentorship Program. This is a special opportunity only for FUTURE participants to meet quarterly with a career mentor over a 12-month period. With this mentor, you can discuss goals, dreams, fears, and whatever else, while building a network and gaining valuable connections. Space is limited.
The National Research Mentoring Network defines mentorship as “a collaborative learning relationship that proceeds through purposeful stages with the primary goal of helping mentees acquire the essential competencies needed to progress to the next stage of their career”.
The FUTURE program recognizes the value and necessity of having mentors both within and beyond the academic setting. Mentors can provide insight and perspective, help set goals, create a system of accountability, and demonstrate the efficacy of diverse careers paths, all of which lead to more informed decision making throughout one’s career journey.
We are grateful to our endlessly supportive PhD Partner Network (link to https://future.ucdavis.edu/partner-spotlights) for offering their time, energy, experience, and expertise to our PhD students and Postdocs.
